That medical bill doesn't have to be final

When medical bill support launches, Bill Saved will call the billing department, wait on hold, and bridge you in when a real person picks up — with everything you need to negotiate right on your screen.

The call you keep putting off

You got the bill. It's higher than you expected — maybe a lot higher. You know you should call, but the thought of navigating automated menus, sitting on hold for 45 minutes, and then trying to negotiate with a billing department you've never dealt with is enough to make you set it aside and hope it goes away.

It won't go away. But it also doesn't have to stay that big.

Between 35% and 80% of medical bills contain errors — duplicate charges, unbundled procedures, incorrect codes. And even accurate bills are often negotiable. Hospitals and clinics routinely accept less than the billed amount, especially when you ask.

The hard part isn't the negotiation. It's making the call.

You join when it matters

Common medical billing situations we cover

Hospital bills

ER visits, inpatient stays, surgical procedures. The most common source of unexpected charges and the most responsive to negotiation.

Out-of-network charges

Surprise bills from providers you didn't choose. Often the highest-leverage calls because the charges frequently exceed fair market rates.

Dental bills

Procedures that exceeded the estimate, insurance denials on covered work, or balance billing.

Lab and imaging charges

Blood work, MRIs, CT scans billed at facility rates when standalone lab rates are a fraction of the cost.

Ambulance bills

Often the most inflated charges relative to the actual service. Ground and air ambulance bills respond well to negotiation and financial hardship appeals.

Frequently asked questions

Can you really negotiate a medical bill?

Yes. Studies show roughly 60% of people who ask for a reduction receive one. Hospitals and clinics build flexibility into their pricing because they'd rather collect something than send the bill to collections.

When should I call?

As soon as you receive the bill, but before it goes to collections. You have more leverage when the provider still owns the debt. That said, even bills in collections can be negotiated — the collection agency typically paid cents on the dollar for it.

What if the bill is correct but I can't afford it?

Many hospitals have financial assistance programs (sometimes called charity care) that can reduce or eliminate the bill entirely based on income. Bill Saved helps you identify and apply for these programs during the call.

Do I need to upload my medical records?

No. A photo or PDF of the bill is enough. We analyze the charges, not your medical history. Your health information stays yours.
